JOHN J. PIKARSKI

Mr. Pikarski has been called “the dean of zoning lawyers in Chicagoland” and has practiced land use and condemnation law in Illinois since 1969. He founded Gordon & Pikarski Attorneys at Law as a boutique firm with six attorneys to better serve individuals and businesses in real estate matters. He has since appeared thousands of times before zoning boards and city councils throughout northeastern Illinois. Mr. Pikarski has been a member of the Chicago Plan Commission and has advised the mayor and city council. He was appointed by President Clinton to the board of directors for the Overseas Private Investment Corporation, which oversees more than $7 billion in overseas projects, and to the United States Commission for Preservation of America’s Heritage Abroad.
He has also co-chaired the National Polish American/Jewish American Council; he is a member of the National Democratic Ethnic Coordinating Committee and the Democratic National committee, and was national chairman of Polish Americans for Clinton/Gore, Gore/Lieberman and Kerry/Edwards.

MORTON A. GORDON

A native of New York City, Attorney Gordon moved to Chicago as a child and made the city his home. He received his B.S. degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1950 before completing his Juris Doctor in 1952. He passed the Illinois Bar in 1951 before he completed his degree. Mr. Gordon has been politically active throughout his career, including spending more than 20 years as deputy city clerk for the city of Chicago. He is a past president of Ravinia Greens Country Club, a member of the Boca West Country Club and participates in a number of business, ethnic and charitable boards and advisory committees.

MAUREEN C. PIKARSKI

Ms. Pikarski focuses her practice on complex transactional real estate matters in Chicago and throughout the collar counties. In addition to having handled hundreds of millions of dollars in real estate transactions, attorney Pikarski has a history of public service and community involvement. She has served in the White House as part of the Vice President’s Office of Public Liaison and as part of Mayor Daley’s 21st Century Leadership Council. She has been a member of the Illinois State Bar Association’s General Assembly and works to educate members of the Polish-American community about the rights and responsibility of business and property owners under state tax law.

THOMAS M. PIKARSKI

Thomas M. Pikarski has served as the lead attorney in more than 500 cases throughout Illinois in his time with Gordon & Pikarski Attorneys at Law as well as the international firm of Kattin Muchin and Zavis. His practice areas include all forms of zoning relief, such as administrative adjustments, variances, conditional uses, special uses, amendments and planned developments. He has presented lectures to the Chicago Bar Association, the National Advocates Society, Chicago-Kent College of Law and numerous professional associations.

DANIEL G. PIKARSKI

Before entering private practice, Mr. Pikarski worked for the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office in the Criminal Appeals Division. There, he successfully argued cases before the Appellate Court of Illinois. Subsequently, Mr. Pikarski was promoted to the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Civil Division where he focused on real estate tax litigation, defending Cook County against lawsuits filed by private entities seeking a reduction in the value of their real property.
In addition, Mr. Pikarski was formerly an adjunct professor of Business and Business Law at Wright College. He serves on the alumni boards of directors of the University of Hartford and University of Detroit-Mercy School of Law.

KRIS MURPHY

Kris clerked for the Honorable Ann O’Regan Keary of the Superior Court of the District of Columbia. The Superior Court is analogous to a state court of general jurisdiction, but is unique among such courts in that its judges are appointed by the President of the United States and confirmed by the Senate. He then moved on to the Mayor’s License Commission and Assistant Corporation Counsel, where he handled liquor license litigation and prosecuted license revocation actions. He also prosecuted undercover prostitution cases and firearms offenses in city courts. Attorney Murphy joined the private firm of Freeborn & Peters, defending major corporations in product liability and tort actions throughout the country. He joined Gordon & Pikarski Attorneys at Law in 2006 and handles cases in all of the firm’s practice areas.
